Jim Toth and Reese Witherspoon are breaking up. The 47-year-old Oscar winner and her 52-year-old talent agent husband announced in a joint statement on Friday that they are getting divorced, just a few days before their 12-year wedding anniversary on Sunday.
“We have some news about ourselves to tell… We decided to divorce after a lot of thought and care “they told me. “We’ve had so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we’ve made together.”
“As we start this new chapter, our son and our whole family are our top priority,” they said. “These things are never easy and are very close to people’s hearts. We really appreciate that everyone is giving our family their space right now.”
People hear from a source, “They are really the best of friends, and this is such a nice way for them to decide. They really want to raise their kids together. They care about their whole family and are trying to make this as easy as possible for everyone.”
Witherspoon and Toth got engaged in December 2010, and they got married in a casual ceremony on her ranch in Ojai, California, in March 2011. They have a son together, Tennessee James, who is 10 years old.
Witherspoon also has two kids with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, Ava, 23, and Deacon, 19. In July, for Toth’s birthday, the Big Little Lies actress sent him photos of herself. She wrote in the caption on Instagram, “JT, my sweet husband, has a birthday today.
I don’t know anyone who likes the Tour de France, road biking, @arsenal, @nashvillesc, @steelers, GOLF, or pretty much any sport more than you. Love you so much!”

Last year, on their 11th wedding anniversary, she wrote on Instagram, “Happy Birthday, JT! 11 years of fun, love, and adventures. I feel so lucky to have you as a part of my life.”
In an interview with ELLE in 2012, Witherspoon talked about how she met Toth for the first time at a friend’s house soon after she broke up with Jake Gyllenhaal. She called him a “really good person” because he helped her avoid a bad situation.
She said at the time, “It came out of nowhere.” “This guy who was really drunk was hitting on me, acting like a fool, and yelling at me.

In 2016, right around the time of their fifth wedding anniversary, the Wild actress told source about some of the best things about her husband: “He’s a great man, a great leader, and a great organizer. He is good at bringing people together. He is very funny and good with kids. And he really helps them see the funny side of life.”
