David Allan Stewart was born in England on September 9, 1952, in the city of Sunderland. He was a Sunderland A.F.C. fan as a kid and always wanted to play for the team.

The rest is history. In 1976, he met Annie Lennox, and they began going out together.

Lennox began playing music in 1976 when she joined a band called Dragon’s Playground as a flute player. Then she joined a band called The Tourists. From 1977 to 1980, she was the lead singer for that band.
During this time, she got to know David Stewart, who was also a musician. After The Tourists broke up, David and Annie started their own band, the Eurythmics, in 1980. Their first album, “In the Garden,” came out in 1981.
“Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” was the duo’s second album, which came out in 1983. This turned out to be a big break for the group’s business, which had been struggling for two years.
After being apart for eight years, Annie and David played together at a party for a record company in 1998. In 2007, she released an album called “Songs of Mass Destruction,” which went straight to No. 7 on the U.K. charts.
