Tarek el Moussa was born on August 21, 1981, in Long Beach, California, where he also grew up. He has both Arab and European roots. He is half from the Middle East. His dad was raised as a Catholic in Egypt and Lebanon in the Middle East.

His mom is from Belgium, and when my dad was in his late teens, he moved to Europe. The United States is where Tarek was born. Dominique is the name of his sister. His mother, father, and husband all live nearby and help out with his kids from time to time.

Tarek gets along well with all of them. Tarek is an agent for a real estate company in Orange County, California, and he also buys and sells houses. People know him for buying houses at the sale, fixing them up, and then selling them for a profit.

He got his real estate license when he was 21 and started flipping houses right away. Through the business of selling houses, he met Christina Haack, who would become his wife.

They worked together right away, with Christina taking care of planning and Tarek taking care of renovations. The business was great until 2008 when the market crashed.

After the crash, Tarek and Christina went from living in a big, expensive house that cost $6,000 a month to living in a small apartment that cost $700 a month.

During the housing market crash, Tarek and Christina ran The El Moussa Group in Orange County, California, which had one of the highest default rates in the country. Tarek, Christina, and their business partner Pete De Best spent $115,000 on their first rental property in Santa Ana.

After selling the house for $34,000 more than they paid for it, the three friends split the money and kept flipping houses, growing their business into Arizona and Nevada.

In 2009, Tarek and Christina got married, and they went on to have two kids, a girl named Taylor Reese and a boy named Brayden James.

As the market got better around the world, Tarek and Christina’s real estate business got better, too. In 2011, Tarek asked a friend to film him and Christina flipping a house from start to finish so that he could use the footage as an interview tape.

Producers at Pie Town Productions and HGTV noticed the tape and Christina’s Instagram page. Christina and Tarek signed a deal with HGTV in 2012, and their show Flip or Flop debuted in April 2013.

The show follows the couple as they bid on a property, fix it up so it can compete on the market, and then sell it again. This can be a very stressful process.

Tarek is in charge of the renovation, and Christina is in charge of design and making sure everything stays on track. Between 2013 and 2017, Christina and Tarek shot 92 episodes for seven seasons. The couple became very well-known.

In 2020, HGTV stated that Tarek would have a new show called Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa. On the show, Tarek helps people who are new to real estate flipping learn the tricks of the trade.

Cancer Diagnosis

Ryan Reade, who worked as a nurse and liked the show, wrote to the company that made it in 2013. She suggested that Tarek see a doctor about a lump she could see on his neck while watching Flip or Flop.

Cancer was the answer. Tarek was told he had cancer in both of his testicles and in his thyroid. The nurse may have saved Tarek’s life by getting him to the hospital before the problem got worse.

The El Moussas thanked Reade in a movie that can be seen on HGTV.com after he got in touch with the producers.
