Safari on your iPhone isn’t connecting to the internet when you try to use it. You are unable to browse the web, no matter what you try. This post will walk you through how to identify and resolve the issue when your iPhone refuses to connect to the internet!
Does Your iPhone Say “No Internet Connection”?
On occasion, your iPhone may indicate that it is linked to Wi-Fi, but beneath the network name, a notice titled “No Internet Connection” will show up. You can skip over the Troubleshooting Cellular Data Issues section of this article if your iPhone is having this issue, as the instructions won’t apply to you.
This notification usually occurs when your iPhone is too far away from your Wi-Fi router for a reliable connection. Consider bringing your iPhone in closer proximity to your wireless router to see if the message vanishes.
If it continues, be sure you restart your iPhone, and take the more involved actions below, as well as the instructions in the Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Issues section.
Restart Your iPhone
If your iPhone isn’t connecting to the internet, try restarting it first. All of your iPhone’s apps can stop and restart on their own when you turn it off and back on, which may resolve a small software problem.
When the message “slide to power off” appears, press and hold the power button. Press and hold both the side button and the volume button on an iPhone without a home button at the same time. To turn off your iPhone, swipe the red and white power icon from left to right.
After a brief delay, turn on your iPhone once more by holding down the side or power buttons until the Apple logo shows up on the screen.
Wi-Fi Versus Cellular Data
You have two options for connecting your iPhone to the internet: cellular data or Wi-Fi. We’ll start by demonstrating how to identify and resolve Wi-Fi issues, and then we’ll apply the same knowledge to cellular data problems.
Troubleshooting Wi-Fi Issues
Turn Your Wi-Fi Off Then Back On
Immediately turn Wi-Fi off and back on when your iPhone refuses to connect to the internet. This may fix a small software issue by giving your iPhone another chance to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
Click Settings, then select Wi-Fi. Then, at the top of the menu, press the switch next to Wi-Fi. After a little pause, turn on the Wi-Fi once more.
Forget The Wi-Fi Network On Your iPhone
Resetting your iPhone’s Wi-Fi network to factory settings might sometimes resolve connectivity problems. The first time you join your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network, it saves details about the network and its connection setup. Your iPhone may not connect to the internet or may display the message “No Internet Connection” if a step in the connecting procedure has changed.
Before you finish this step, remember to write down your Wi-Fi password! When you join to the network again, you’ll need to input it again.
Click Settings, then select Wi-Fi. After selecting Forget This Network, hit the details icon that appears next to your Wi-Fi network.
To rejoin to your Wi-Fi network, return to Settings -> Wi-Fi and touch on it.
Restart Your Router
Occasionally, problems with your Wi-Fi router—not your iPhone—cause problems with the functioning of the internet. Your router might need to be restarted.
Remove your router’s plug from the wall first. After a little while, plug it back in. After rebooting, your router will begin to reconnect. It may take some time, so be ready!
Check Your VPN Settings
It’s conceivable that your iPhone is unable to connect to the internet because of a problem with your VPN. Try going to Settings -> VPN and turning off your VPN. After that, flip off the switch by Status. If it reads “Not Connected,” your VPN is not in use.
Now that your VPN is turned off, try making an internet connection. If it functions, there’s most likely a VPN problem. To find out how to resolve problems with your iPhone VPN, see our other article!
Troubleshooting Cellular Data Issues
Turn Cellular Off And Back On
Restarting cellular data might occasionally resolve minor connectivity problems. Once in Settings, select Cellular. The switch adjacent to Cellular Data should then be turned off. After a short while, turn it back on.
Eject and Reinsert Your SIM Card
Your iPhone and the cellular network of your carrier are connected via a SIM card. Re-seating the SIM card after ejecting it might occasionally resolve connectivity issues.
There is a tray on the side of your iPhone where you may find your SIM card. If you need assistance, see our article on ejecting SIM cards! Try re-entering your SIM card and establishing an internet connection.
Final Steps
You might need to give your iPhone a deeper reset if, despite trying the aforementioned fixes, it still won’t connect to the internet. Make sure the most recent version of iOS is installed on your iPhone by going to Settings -> General -> Software Update before proceeding. If there’s an update for the software, select Download and Install.
Frequently, Apple makes updates for iOS to address minor glitches and issues, one of which can be keeping your iPhone from connecting to the internet.
Reset Network Settings
All Wi-Fi, Cellular, APN, and VPN settings are returned to their initial factory settings when you Reset Network Settings. After doing this, you’ll need to re-enter your Wi-Fi passwords and reconnect your Bluetooth devices.
Select General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings after opening Settings. Upon the appearance of the confirmation pop-up, select Reset Network Settings. After shutting down and doing a reset, your iPhone will turn back on.
Put Your iPhone In DFU Mode
On your iPhone, a DFU (Device Firmware Update) restore is the most comprehensive restoration you can perform. Make a backup of your iPhone before putting it in DFU mode to prevent losing any of your data, including contacts and pictures. Once you’re prepared, read our post to find out how to DFU restore your iPhone.

Repair And Support Options
It’s time to contact customer care at Apple, your wireless carrier, or the manufacturer of your router if none of our software troubleshooting solutions resolve the issue.
Contact with Apple Support
To find out if Apple support can assist you in fixing your iPhone, we advise contacting them first. Apple offers phone, in-person, and online help. Make an appointment in advance if you intend to visit your neighborhood Apple Store to ensure that an Apple Tech will be on hand when you get there.
Purchasing a new phone could make more sense financially than having your old iPhone repaired if it has a hardware issue. To get the greatest deals on new phones from Apple, Samsung, Google, and other manufacturers, check out the UpPhone phone comparison tool.
Contact Your Wireless Carrier
If you’re experiencing problems accessing cellular data or suspect there may be a problem with your cell phone plan, get in touch with your wireless provider. By searching for your wireless carrier’s name together with the phrase “customer support,” you may easily locate the customer service number.
It could be time to transfer providers if you’re tired of having problems with your cellular data. To locate a better deal, use UpPhone’s tool for comparing cell phone plans!
